Timeline of the server failure & Engineers Response
Sunday 31st December 2023
- Yash alerted us to the outage first thing in the morning – It was identified that iDrac (Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller) had failed
- Jobin was brought onto the case while Yash contacted a manager on site to attempt to bring the server online manually.
- Jobin organised a new server be sent to site, and for Dan to head onsite in central London to set it up.
- Bengi also arrived not long after with a replacement iDrac module on his day off.
- When they got to site the old server had come online after a full power pull but was alerting multiple errors on the front panel.
- Dan quickly built the new Hyper-V host on site and began replication to it so that we could fall over in the event of another outage during services that day.
- 8am Monday the 1st of January 2024 we moved over the virtual machine to the new server, so the client was completely out of danger.
